Here are some frequently asked questions when ordering a cake:

How do I order a cake?
All cakes are custom made to order to your specifications. We do not have any pre-made cakes for pick-up.

- Please include the date and time of your event, how many guests/servings, and any other details (including cake flavors/fillings, design ideas, colors, event type, etc.) and your contact information!
What are your prices?
Our minimum order is $50.00. As each cake is a unique creation, prices will depend on a number of variables – the complexity of design, number of servings, and ingredients are all factors with determine your final cake price.
During our phone consultation, we’ll give you various options on what size of cake to order to serve your guests generously.We are happy to work with you and your budget to create an unforgettable showpiece for your event!
When should I place my order?
As we are a small boutique bakery and every cake is unique and created to order, we recommend 2-3 weeks for most orders and at least 3-6 months for wedding or larger party cakes. If you need to place an order with a shorter lead time, please call for availability and we’ll do our best to accommodate your order.
What is your payment policy for Party Cakes?
- Orders under $150: All orders must be paid in full to reserve your order.
- Orders over $150: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the balance is due at one week prior to your event.
- Orders placed with less than one weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering.
- Orders cancelled within one week of delivery, no payments will be refunded.
What is your payment policy for Wedding Cakes?
- A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the balance is due at 3 weeks prior to your wedding.
- Orders placed with less than 21 days notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering.
- If order is cancelled within 21 days of wedding date, no payments will be refunded.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For your convenience we accept cash, checks, credit cards – Visa, MC, Discover or AMEX. Personal checks may be accepted at our discretion. It may depend on how far in advance the order will be placed so that it gives time for checks to clear. Cake confirmation is made once the check has been received and cleared. Final payment must be received 7 days before pickup/delivery date to allow time for the check to be received and cleared. If your check does not clear you will be responsible for the amount of the check and a non-sufficient funds (NSF) charge of $35.
Can I have more than one cake flavor?
Yes, depending upon the size of the cake! Feel free to choose any cake and filling combination you desire. Additional fees may apply.
Is your kitchen licensed or inspected?
Yes, Just Ask Mo Custom Cakes operates from a licensed, residential bakery that follows the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Department of Agriculture.
Can I schedule a cake tasting?
Orders can be completed by phone consultation and/or email. Cake tastings are reserved for weddings and large orders over 100 servings. There is a $35 tasting fee collected at the time of the appointment via credit card. At your tasting, we will discuss your event and a variety of cake samples will be prepared for you and up to 3 guests. If you book your cake with us, the $35 is applied to your final order.



I’m out of town; can you deliver something to a local loved one?
Yes! Customers from all over the world contact us to have cakes, cupcakes or gift baskets delivered to their kids who are in college, loved ones, friends with birthdays, or any other special occasion.
Can you accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions?
YES, we believe that everyone deserves to eat cake at their party and we can accommodate many allergy or dietary restrictions! We have created many wonderful cakes for people with allergies or intolerances to nuts, wheat, soy and dairy. We pay serious attention to the preparation, baking and storage processes to prevent cross-contamination but they are made in the same location as all our other cakes are made. Please call or email us to discuss your needs, and please place this type of order at least 2-3 weeks in advance.
Can I choose a design I saw in a magazine or online?
We are happy to use images, invitations, or colors as inspirations for your cake design. We highly recommend Google images for design inspirations!
Do you offer delivery or can I pick up my cake?
YES! Delivery when available is at an additional cost and starts at $25.00. When your order is placed, we will set up a 30 minute delivery window and we will make every effort to be there on time or before. You are also welcome to pick up your cake order and it will be safely boxed for travel. Please transport your cake gently as it’s fragile! Once you take delivery of your cake or collect the cake in person we can no longer be responsible for any damage sustained to your cake thereafter.
Do you rent cupcake stands?
Yes, cupcake stands are only available to customers purchasing cupcakes from us with a refundable equipment deposit of $100.00. You are responsible for arranging safe and cleaned return of all rented display items within 48 hours of the end of your event. Cupcake stands must be returned clean, or a $25 cleaning fee will be deducted from your deposit.
